Brighton, Mass. March 18, 2002 - PatientKeeper, Inc. today announced an agreement in which Cerner will standardize its mobile handheld offerings on PatientKeeper's Mobilizer Platform. This standardization will allow Cerner Millennium² clients access to the most advanced mobile and wireless technology in health care. Using PatientKeeper's Mobilizer Platform and Software Development Kits, Cerner's business enterprises will be able to more easily develop mobile applications and deploy them as part of any Cerner Millennium installation. In addition, the two companies have agreed to further collaborate by jointly developing a suite of handheld clinical applications utilizing Cerner's MillenniumObjects² -Cerner's open architecture toolkit for client and third-party health care application development.
The Mobilizer Platform enables secure, portable, two-way exchange of patient and clinical data for an entire health care enterprise. The platform provides application interoperability, context management, advanced security features, centralized browser-based administration and reporting capabilities. It also supports a wide selection of handheld devices (Palm OS and Pocket PC) and wireless and non-wireless transports (802.11b, Bluetooth, WWAN, network cradles, infrared, etc.). These capabilities will allow Cerner's clients to establish an effective long-term strategy for enterprise-wide deployment of handheld computing technology.
"Wireless technologies are an increasingly important factor in the clinical environment," said Trace Devanny, Cerner's president. "After an extensive evaluation of the marketplace, we believe PatientKeeper's Mobilizer Platform provides the value our clients seek and supports the vision that Cerner delivers. We chose PatientKeeper because it works with Cerner systems to successfully drive two-way information exchanges with mobile clinicians throughout a facility, a tremendous value-add to our clients and the patients they care for."
"Cerner has a long history of innovation, leadership and vision," said Gary F. Foster, PatientKeeper's president and chief executive officer. "Its decision to standardize on the Mobilizer Platform expands the relationship we established over a year ago and represents a tremendous vote of confidence in our technology and strategy. Cerner is a great partner and we are excited about the rapid deployment of our technology through this channel."
