BOSTON, Mass. - April 30, 2003 - PatientKeeper, a leading provider of mobile computing solutions for healthcare, announced today that Robert T. Leonard has joined the company as vice president of sales. Leonard was formerly vice president of clinical systems sales for national accounts at McKesson Information Solutions and prior to that was vice president of sales and marketing for FluidSense Corporation, a pioneer in point-of-care technologies.
"We are extremely fortunate to welcome Bob Leonard to the PatientKeeper management team," said Paul W. Brient, the company's chief executive officer. "He brings exceptional senior-level sales experience along with an outstanding record of accomplishments working with some of the best known healthcare organizations in the country. The market for mobile and wireless devices is heating up and we feel that Bob is the perfect addition to PatientKeeper as we further expand our market reach."
In recent months, PatientKeeper has announced a number of major contracts for its Clinical Applications Suite and Charge Capture Application Suite as well as partnerships with MedQuist and Thomson-MICROMEDEX. Late in 2002, PatientKeeper was cited by Gartner, Inc. as an industry leader in providing mobile/wireless solutions for hospitals and healthcare organizations. In the same report, Gartner estimated that in the next couple of years, mobile/wireless capabilities would be widely adopted by the healthcare industry.
Prior to FluidSense, Leonard spent seven years with Chartwell, founded by Massachusetts General Hospital, and involving many of the nation's most prestigious academic medical centers. In the 1990s, the organization grew from a small regional provider of alternate site health care services to one of the nation's largest, with annual revenues of approximately $200 million. While there, Leonard held a number of positions, including executive vice president for sales and marketing.
"PatientKeeper is one of the most exciting growth companies serving the healthcare industry," Leonard said. "I've watched them develop over the past few years and have been very impressed by the PatientKeeper technology. It's the ideal mobile solution for doctors, nurses, administrators, and others. In the coming weeks, we plan to share the PatientKeeper story at several key events-seeing what the products can do generates tremendous excitement."
