Bridgeport, Conn and Boston, Mass - March 28, 2006 - St. Vincent's Medical Center, a major, 397-bed acute care hospital and a leading referral center for open-heart surgery, total joint replacement, and cancer serving Southwestern Connecticut and Westchester County, New York, and a member of Ascension Health, today announced it has deployed PatientKeeper's award-winning software to help physicians save time and enhance patient safety. PatientKeeper® allows physicians to access the complete medical records for their patients via PDAs, Smartphones, tablets, or any computer with a Web browser. The deployment, including integration with St. Vincent's IDX Carecast system, took just two weeks. Implementation began on March 10, and physicians began using the PatientKeeper software on March 24.
"We were eager to address our physicians' requests for mobile access to patient information," said Gary Weiner, CIO of St. Vincent's Medical Center. "We conducted an extensive review of the marketplace and chose PatientKeeper as our partner because we knew we could make an important impact quickly - without compromising on functionality."
St. Vincent's joins over 15 hospitals that have already deployed PatientKeeper to their physicians since the first of the year. New PatientKeeper clients include physician practices, community hospitals, major academic medical centers, and large health systems. PatientKeeper has integrated to all major healthcare information systems, including Cerner, Eclipsys, Epic, GE Healthcare/IDX, McKesson, MEDITECH, QuadraMed, and Siemens, as well as many leading EMRs.
"PatientKeeper affords the multi-tasking physician the opportunity to receive patient results as soon as they are available and respond to this information immediately," said Morton Salomon, M.D., chairman of emergency medicine at St. Vincent's Medical Center. "This reduces wait time for patients and increases efficiency of bed utilization."
Only PatientKeeper can support a physician's entire day - across different care settings, multiple organizations, and disparate information systems. PatientKeeper's broad product portfolio allows physicians to access their patients' electronic records, write prescriptions, enter charges for services, document patient encounters, place orders, and securely send messages to other caregivers - all in a single integrated environment. Hospitals can start with a single application and expand as needs dictate. St. Vincent's started its initiative with PatientKeeper Mobile Clinical Results and will be deploying PatientKeeper Charge Capture next.
"We are delighted to welcome St. Vincent's, one of the leading IDX Carecast customers in the country, to our customer base," said Paul W. Brient, president and chief executive officer of PatientKeeper. "Its deployment of PatientKeeper is the latest step in the medical center's ongoing commitment to provide leading edge technology to its physicians."
