PatientKeeper Offers New Quality Measurement Solution for Medicare Physician Quality Reporting

PatientKeeper P4P™ Module Automates PQRI Coding, Enabling Providers to Earn Financial Bonus Payments

Boston, Mass., – July 16, 2007 – PatientKeeper®, Inc., the leading provider of physician information systems, today announced the availability of PatientKeeper P4P™, a quality measurement module which extends the company’s award-winning Charge-Capture offering. PatientKeeper P4P automates the process of collecting and reporting quality metrics under the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ (CMS) 2007 Physician Quality Reporting Initiative (PQRI).

With the PatientKeeper P4P solution, hospitals can manage the data collection and reporting processes for PQRI. Instead of creating a separate process to collect the necessary information for each CMS measure, the PatientKeeper P4P solution offers a way for physicians to automatically trigger the appropriate questions as charges are being entered.

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ 2007 Physician Quality Reporting Initiative establishes a financial incentive for physicians and other health practitioners to participate in a voluntary quality reporting program. Eligible professionals who successfully report data for a designated set of 74 quality measures may earn a bonus payment, subject to a cap, of 1.5 percent of total allowed charges for covered Medicare physician fee schedule services provided during the reporting period of July 1, 2007 to December 31, 2007.

“At PatientKeeper we strive to improve the daily life of the physician by integrating multiple information systems and processes into a single solution for the physician,” said Paul W. Brient, chief executive officer, PatientKeeper. “With our PatientKeeper P4P solution, we have fully automated all of the data capture and reporting for the 74 CMS quality measurements into the existing charge capture process. Going forward, we will expand PatientKeeper P4P to collect and report on other quality measurements.”

The popularity of PatientKeeper’s physician information system continues to grow because of its innovative, integrated portal and mobile applications which are used in conjunction with all of the major hospital information systems and electronic medical records (EMRs), and practice management systems including Cerner, Eclipsys, Epic, GE Healthcare/IDX, McKesson, MEDITECH, QuadraMed, Siemens, and others.
